One of the most striking memories of my childhood is Uncle Scrooge diving into his huge mountain of coins: I didn’t really like him, but I admired the fact that he didn’t let someone else make the most of his own, hard work...
Money ain’t for bathing, but it also ain’t for stealing. Now, if you decided that the most expensive tickets for your venue should be sold at, say, 50 € apiece, why should someone else earn tenfold by selling them under the counter?
Touting is one of the cancers of ticketing, something that damages sellers and buyers alike, but it can be cured. In fact, belive keeps a detailed log of every ticket and, where reprinting is legal, of its reprints. This log contains all relevant information to keep track of the ticket’s history: who sold it, who bought it, when and where it was sold or reprinted, and so on.
Moreover, each ticket and reprint is associated to a unique code, usually represented both in numeric and barcode format to make it readable by any handheld ticket control device. This way it’s always possible to track the original seller and buyer of every ticket and its complete history.
Touting is dead and buried, just forget about it.
